Hugh Potter (Andy's father) was the Senior Electrical Inspector with E.A.R.& H., and was based in Nairobi. His job entailed looking after the electrics and supervising new works. He had his own coach to stay in when on inspections,  and it was moved, usually on a goods train, to wherever he had to be.

In 1959 he took Andy with him from Nairobi to Kasese station which was being built at that time. Andy, a proud owner of a Brownie box camera, took these photos of the trains, stations, and ships on Lake Victoria.
