*SS Empire Path (South Shields)*
Crew of 49 with 10 DEMS gunners Sunk by a ratchet mine in the Scheldt Estuary (51.22 North, 2.52 East) on Sunday, December 24, 1944. Survivors rescued by the escort, a minesweeper, and an RAF air-sea rescue launch and taken to Ostende. Casualties: Five crew members died.
