Many schools had their own tennis courts and students compete in various junior tennis tournaments throughout the year. Parklands Sports Club had one of the largest tournaments for juniors with events for boys' and girls' singles and doubles in under 10 years, under 12, under 14, under 16, and under 18. During the rains, it was sometimes necessary to move events to the courts at Loreto (Msongari). The annual Kenya Junior Open Tournament run by the Kenya Lawn Tennis Association (KLTA) was held at Nairobi Club. There was also smaller Junior Tennis event held in the 1970s at Karen.
