Slide 8: Wash Day near Soni. The local women still do their laundry by hand in the river. The women first wet and soap each garment, then bang it against a smooth boulder, rubbing it with a smooth rock, turning the article and repeating this action several times. Finally, they rinse the clothes and spread them out on the grass to dry.
