DUNKS family: Do you remember Phil and Kay Dunks who lived in Nairobi (Kenya) from approx. 1962 to 1971? Phil worked for Ideal Casement windows of Reading, Berkshire. In the summer of 1968/1969, their two grandsons - Roger (then aged 7 or 8) and Martin (then aged 10 or 11) - visited them. Martin remembers that they flew to Kenya on a BOAC VC10. They spent 4 weeks in Nairobi and 2 weeks at the coast. His grandparents were good golfers, and belonged to a golf club that the boys visited. They also remember going to the drive-in cinema and the Game Park. The grandparents knew a game warden who had been mauled by a lion. He personally took the boys out for the day in the park to show them all the animals. The family drove to the coast in a mini-van. The place where they stayed in Mombasa was near the President's beach residence. Martin has visited Kenya four times in the last 10 years. He stays at the Turtlebay Beach Club in Watamu, and always thinks back to the wonderful summer that he spent in Kenya so long ago.
